Another Breast Cancer Quilt

This is the second breast cancer quilt I made this year.  This is for my daughter-in-law's cousin, only 28, who has breast cancer.
And here is Tara with her quilt!
Here is Teresa with her quilt too.
When I should have been working on my Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, I was making doggie coats.  I made this for Teddy.  He wasn't there to try it on.  I need to make another one for him a little bit bigger.  I didn't realize Lucy was that much smaller than he is.  I hope she stays smaller.
Here is Lucy modeling her coats.  She looks pretty in pink!
And batik too!

This is Josiah's Christmas stocking made with Kate Spain's In From the Cold.  I thought I took a nicer photo of this, but I didn't.  I took this to send to his mom to see if she liked it.  You can see my work space here-yuck!

I only have a bag to make for Oliver for Christmas.  I achieved my goals for the most part.  I am trying to find time to work on the mystery quilt.  I followed a bloggers suggestion of cutting triangles for clue two instead of using small squares.  Big mistake for me.  The accuracy isn't as good, so I am doing a lot of ripping as I go along.  Of course production has slowed down because of this.  I am making a queen size, so I am making more blocks than her lap quilt and less than the king size.  I hope I guestimated the correct number of pieces pretty close to what I will need.

November 2013

I have not posted for quite a while.  I will forget what quilts I made and what is going on in my life if I don't post soon.  Here is some of what has been keeping me busy over the last few months, obviously not in order of importance!

This is Bonnie Hunter's Pineapple Blossom quilt that I made for a friend who is fight breast cancer.  I really enjoyed making this pattern.  I gave it to Teresa in September.

Madison wanted a princess quilt.  I found the princess fabric at Sauder's and Madison picked out the other fabrics.  She wanted orange, blue, pink and some Easter fabric that I had.  She even helped to make it a little bit.

This is the back of the princess quilt.  I had to order the other princesses because they "weren't on the quilt" and Madison "really, really likes them."  The back cost more to make than the front!  This was an October finish.
This is our excitement for the end of Summer this year.  We welcomed Josiah David August 30th.

Meet Lucy!  My daughter got Peluche (now Teddy) earlier this summer and I fell in love with him.  I told my hubby that I think by Christmas I may be ready for another dog.  That weekend he went to a yardsale and Lucy was for sell.  She is the breeder's last puppy from her last litter.  I went to see Lucy and liked her but just wasn't sure.  Then they said how rambunctious she was.  Teddy is normally pretty calm and laid back.  She was so cute though.  I said yes.  She is delightful and makes me smile.  Not so much today though.  She came in from outside covered in mud.  She has discovered the fun in digging.
This is Teddy, the boy who started it all.  We have to learn how to groom Shih Tzu's.  I am going to keep Lucy short, but their faces require special treatment that is a little bit tricky.
Here is smiling Josiah with his mom and big brother.  He is two and half months old and looks like he is trying to crawl already.  Slow down little boy, you have plenty of time to grow up!
I have been watching Ryleigh and Brady after work since this summer too.  It is great to get to know them better.  They are very much into nature and animals.  Here they are taking care of a woolly caterpillar.

And a picture of Madison.  We saw Oliver once over the summer and his siblings not at all.  I have tried to make contact with their mother, but she has not responded in person.  She has told a few people that she will call me to set up a get together, but that hasn't happened.  We all miss Kamille and Kole and hope they are doing well.

Baby quilts

This is the first baby quilt I made.  I made this for my first grandchild soon after I started quilting.  I didn't take pictures of my quilts when I made them, so I had to search them down to photograph them.  This one looks well loved.  I quilted baby footprints in the large yellow block with my DSM.  Kole's mom picked out the fabric.  The prints were Winnie the Pooh.  8/9/2002
Then came Kamille's baby quilt.  I made two identical quilts because I bought the fabric for a larger quilt and loved it so much.  These are the only two quilts I put ruffles around.  I may try again, now that there are directions on how to do it on the internet.  When I made them I just winged it.  3/22/2006

Elijah's quilt is one that I made twice also.  I made the first one for a niece's baby and Elijah's mom liked it and wanted it for her baby too.  I didn't get pictures of either one and will have to get a picture of it when I see it again.  10/10/2006  Update-found the picture of Elijah's-already loved.

Ryleigh's quilt was next.  I found this adorable children's fabric that I wasn't sure how to use, but knew I wanted to use it for her quilt.  This is what I finally came up with.  9/15/2007
Brandon's quilt was made with fabric I ordered after seeing this quilt in a magazine.  They are pages for a book made into a quilt. 1/30/ 2009
I just wanted to make Oliver a sail boat quilt and searched high and low for a pattern I wanted to use.  Then I had to cut it down in size and search for the shirting for the sails.  At the shower where it was given to mom to be, I discovered that the nursery theme was sailboats!  Serendipitous!  8/7/2008

I never got a picture of Kamille's quilt above, but this one is actually Madison's.  8/24/2009
This is Caius's quilt.  (They decided to call him Josiah!  Whew!  Easier for Grandma to say.)  He isn't here yet but we are expecting him the end of August 2013.  This is Mod Pop that mom and grandma fell in love with the colors.

Here are some random quilts that I made for nieces and friends babies.  I sure wish I had thought to take pictures of all of them along the way.
